The Democrat party won't continue to exist because of a very famous quote, " A house divided can not stand."

Actually he's just formed a modern day communist party. The democratic party still exists somewhat.

Bernie's hoping the Dems bribe him with another check into shutting up.

This is probably closest to the truth. What you see today is not the Democrat party, this is a radical sub group that took over. The regular dems are hiding out and may very well one day just form another party.

The Democrats are already split somewhat between social and economic issues. Bernie is getting all of the ultra liberal communists riled up. Those who are more conservative (or not quite THAT liberal) economically will disown his brand of crazy.

It really isn't a party anyway. It's more like a consortium of disparate groups whose only thing in common is desire for government cheese.

I'm in the total minority on this board but a well-defined center left party is a good thing for the country as well as Washington.

Everyone complains that Washington is full of "uniparty cucks," so any move which defines either side more clearly is a good move. When both parties are so closely aligned it is difficult for elections to have a meaningful impact.

As far as I've seen, Sanders has suggested nothing that the developed world already has to some degree. The irony is that the Scandinavian countries he often cites used a model called Nordic capitalism so that their citizens could compete in the world. Why he takes that as proof that "democratic socialism" works is another issue.

Regardless, more clearly parties that are discrete from one another is a good thing.

Well duh. He is a socialist. It is not even his party of choice.

I'll agree with this but Bernie Sanders is a far left politician. Not center left.

Sanders is certainly far left for the US. He's much further to the right than someone like Corbyn, who is much further to the left. Hence why I argue he's more center-left in the broad political spectrum.

Sanders seems closer to a New Deal style Democrat than European communism or socialism. He hasn't suggested nationalizing an industry, nor has he suggested abolishing a free market in favor of price controls. He's suggesting reinvesting wealth in healthcare and education. For some reason in the popular parlance social welfare has become synonymous with communism. Yet the countries with well-entrenched social welfare programs are all capitalistic, 1st-world countries.

No they won't. That would be seen as discriminatory, or fascist, etc, etc.
