Bernie Sanders coming to March in Mississippi for starting a Union at Nissan

I have two friends who work at the Nissan plant in Canton, and love working there. They said that there are some people who like to complain about everything and they are the ones who are trying to stir things up which is leading to Bernie visiting Mississippi. They said if the people don't like Nissan then maybe they should quit, but they wont because they cant/wont be able to find as good of as job as they already have.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and actor Danny Glover are coming to Mississippi to help bring attention to what organizers call poor working conditions at Canton's Nissan manufacturing plant, according to the Mississippi NAACP. The "March on Mississippi" is scheduled for March 4 at the Canton Sportsplex, as advertised by the Mississippi Alliance For Fairness at Nissan. U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson and Sierra Club President Aaron Mair will also attend. The march focuses on attempts by Nissan workers to unionize and the intimidation they say they've faced in response.

What's the Sierra Club's angle with this?

They're doing what a nutcase would do. Their angle is that they're nuts.

Basically what it boils down to, most of those factories can plug in almost anyone to do assembly type positions, so the workers can't really individually demand a raise, they have to collectively do it. By doing so, they usually union themselves right out of a job. It seems people have learned very little of the collective bargaining lessons of the past. You aren't that special, your job isn't that hard, and you are very replaceable. Shut up and be happy, as you aren't that marketable on the open market.

Thank you unions!
Thanks for: 5 Day work weeks, Child labor laws, 40 hr work weeks,
Nissan could learn from Bugatti

Bernie is looking for a new income stream

If I could pick my dream job, it would be as an attorney gut-busting unions.
This has been an issue near and dear to me for years, but I haven't been able to figure out why. I periodically write my congressman and senators with requests that they consider repealing large portions of the NLRA which are just outright bad for businesses and workers, yet no one seems to get it.
The NLRB should be abolished, IMO, and collective bargaining should be restricted to only basic employment obligations: hours, wages, and training. Anything outside of those areas would be illegal if I had my way.
I don't know what this has to do with the OP, but I guess Bernie would be marching for very little under my system.

Nissan should pick up their toys and go play elsewhere.

The people working at Nissan cant make anywhere near the money they are making there nor get similar benefits anywhere in Mississippi with just a HS diploma. I don't see what all the complaining is about. Mississippi is a Right to work State and has NEVER had unions to my knowledge.

Why do lawyers hate middle class workers?

That's what my friend who has been there 10 years is afraid of.

As a resident of Madison, I find this most hilarious.
The overwhelming majority of Nissan workers love it and are not interested in unionizing. There's a few workers stirred up because they think it will line their pockets.
This has to be the 10th time Danny Glover has been here

How many times has the UAW tried and failed to unionize that plant? Sanders is wasting his time, but hey maybe driving through Jackson will be an eye opening experience for him. He will be able to see what a socialist utopia in America would actually look like, and :spoiler alert: it is not pretty.

...and end up like Detroit. Unions have ruined the American auto Industry. If they force this shite on these foreign auto companies like Nissan...See ya. Bernie sanders is a stupid arse socialist.

He's an opportunist. He does not care about Mississippi and he doesn't care if Nissan shuts down the facility.

Why? It is not like the union effort is going to succeed in Ms. The plant has been open for 14 years, and every 6 months or so there is a story on the Jackson news about the UAW trying to unionize it. Every time they fail because the majority of the workers don't want to be union.

To get all the state tax breaks offered, the car companies have to promise a certain number of jobs.
Most of these jobs are unskilled type jobs that robots can do.
I'd expect Nissan at some point begin robot replacing should the plant unionize.

Those are great things, but what have unions done for workers in recent history, like the last 60 years?
