Come on. I admit it's awful. I have no incentive to give the President a pass. I'm simply trying to stay intellectually and morally honest here.

Americans die all the time in armed conflict, and political face-saving is frequently a primary consideration for whatever political entity is involved. We've done it (GOP) and the left has done it. Perhaps that is taken too lightly, but that aspect of Benghazi occurs weekly, on both sides.

I'm not holding my breath for this with regard to any political body, much less the present administration.

This has got to be the cleanest Administration in history when the best his political opponents can come up with is covering up the word "terrorism" by using "acts of terror", instead.

This Benghazi affair is not a scandal but a joke.

no. The aftermath was clearly intentional. Lying to the American public in an election year to preserve political power is a legitimate scandal.

What difference does it make?

I know this is a running joke, but that's sort of the attitude I have on this. The GOP/Fox is justified in wanting their pound of flesh from the other side, but focusing on the Sunday show spin job instead of putting the focus on finding and killing those responsible is counter productive.

I don't think the expectation is for them to lie about it to cover the presidents failure in actually eliminating al qaeda as had been presented during the DNC conference

that is all fine and well, but i hope you hold that standard to all administrations and not just this one.

this just looks like they were spinning, which honestly is what the whitehouse normally does. Doesn't seem like conspiracy.

So it was a YouTube video?? You agree with that?

Is our expectation really that the administration share with us the most accurate intelligence on Sunday morning shows?

The fact that Rice was focused on the video, rather than seeking out the real cause of the attack, is beyond obvious.

In all 5 of the Sunday interview shows, Rice was the first to bring up the video. None of the 5 interviewers asked her about the video when posing general questions about anti-American unrest and demonstrations in the Middle East/Northern Africa, or references to Benghazi, Libya or the four dead Americans. She volunteered the video as the cause.

And in case anyone does not believe she was working off a script in her head, consider this: in ALL FIVE interviews that Sunday, she described the video as "hateful". Not in 2, or 3, or 4. But all 5. Same word, right up front - "hateful". The fact that she used that same word on every show is not coincidence. She walked onto each set with the clear intent of not only putting forth the video as the cause of the attack, but using a word meant to provoke emotion from viewers both in the U.S. and abroad.

Again, Rice brought up the video first in all 5 instances, and with the adjective "hateful" attached every time.

Can one honestly believe she did not walk out onto all five sets with the specific intent to do that, rather than just indicate it was too early to make any determinations regarding the cause for the attack?

Everything about this is obvious.

It was a cover up to help Dear Leader.

Plain and simple.

I'll admit I'm a little slow, but where did all the weapons go? That's not obvious to me.

If you are OK with an administration blatantly lying to the American People over the span of a couple weeks than that is your opinion

Myself and others aren't OK with it

Ambassadors don't die "every day". That is a pretty uncommon event. The fact that an administration would purposefully lie to mislead the electorate about a terrorist attack in order to save face prior to an election is a "pretty big deal" no matter who's in charge.

I remember the collective media having to breathe into small paper bags when Nixon was trying to sway a national election via Watergate.

I remember 10-15 years ago my mom was watching some mini series special on ABC about the disco era in the early 70s... they flat out stated in the show's script that Nixon stole the election from McGovern.

One scene showed a presidential watch party filled with the pro-McGovern crowd(who were also the shows protaganists) and they all whined and complained that Nixon stole it because of Watergate.
