Her husband is son of former city councilman and posted this. The current mayor of Jackson is terrible. The last one was a good man, just way over his head. This one is a corrupt, progressive marxist who doesn't lose a moment's sleep over stuff like this. He just won re-election a few months ago with 72 percent of the vote.
Jackson set a record for murders in 2020 (breaking the '95 record), and that record is probably going to fall in 2021.

Its an organized gang of teenagers that have been carjacking in the Belhaven area (nice old money neighborhood - two colleges, a couple of hospitals and rich young professionals).
They know who is doing this, but will not stop it. "Carjacking isnt serious enough." one of my friends were told when calling 911 when she witnessed one.

Right around the corner from my in-laws who refuse to move. They were victims of an armed robbery themselves a couple years ago and my 65 yo FIL was struck in the head with the end of a pistol

I usually agree with these sentiments but it seems like as it applies to this gang of teens, as someone noted, it is more of an issue of cracking down by the police and busting the punks before they get the opportunity to car jack folks. Not sure in this case if a gun pulled by the victim would have done anything but escalate an already volatile situation, with the kids in the mix...might have been outgunned and caused bullets to start flying. Tough situation as a whole when the powers that be are screwing around and seemingly waiting for someone to die before they get serious about putting an end to this.

I understand what your sentiments are but at this point if you don't carry and train to use it you are leaving you safety and your children's safety to the mindset of a pack of thugs. No thank you. I am not going to wait and see if a particular pack of shitbags are in a good mood or not.
1) I am going to do everything I can to be situationally aware enough to not be in the situation
2) failing that, the moment I am in danger I am going to try to exfil even if that means running people over
3) if 2 fails I will have option 3 ready which is a gun battle.
Like I said, I am not going to give them an opportunity to escalate and me have to react. Just my mindset.
