That general in charge of personnel - there's a civilian with essentially the same title and both have some underlings / staff. It's entirely redundant and a total waste of taxpayer money.

A letter addressed to 'Former Service Member' is pretty low class. They know exactly who they kicked out.

There should not be any requirement for discharged troops to apply to correct their records. They should be corrected by the military automatically. Fix the DD214 and reinstate all of these people, award back pay, and then give them a choice: actually come back on duty or stay out, and if they want to stay out, give them a new DD214. All they have to do is write a quick instruction so that these people can handle all of this at a local recruiting station.

Why is everything done in such a half-arse manner? This is just absurd.

DoD did this stuff back in the early days of the GWOT as well. They started discharging people saying they had mental health issues, when these people were having PTSD issues. They consider mental health as a preexisting condition which means you fraudulently enlisted, so they were chucking people out, after treating them like garbage, and not awarding them benefits, healthcare etc. Congress called them out, had hearings, and found the DoD did not comply with things they pledged to Congress to do....and Congress did nothing.

The people that care the least about military members are the ones at the top of the DoD, from O-7 on up through the civilian leadership. They are a disgusting group.
