Army can't make mission recruiting

There is a perfect storm here of drug use, obesity and health issues in the target demographics and a general malaise.
The Army is determined to rename its bases and forts. Perhaps they will learn to live with a different demographic other than the white southern kids that have been outpunching their weight for generations.

I'd be curious the MOS based issues?
I'll bet very few rural/southern kids are rushing out to join infantry etc.
I'll bet non combat MOS aren't having as bad a time.

The traditional core of the fighting force, white, rural men from the South and Midwest, are shite upon constantly. Who wants to go fight to prop up bankers and contractors who make it well known that you aren't wanted?
I'm sure the Chinese and Russian defense ministries laugh their asses off every day, knowing that the US military is being turned in to some gay inclusive jobs program that pisses money away with no associated increase in power projection or competency.

China and Russia follow the same model...Centralized Control, mildly competent career Officer and NCO'S, with the majority of their regular forces being peasant Conscripts. I'll take a smaller, motivated, and vastly more competent volunteer force any day . The World is seeing the value of an unmotivated, undisciplined, and poorly trained Conscript Army on display in the Ukraine. So much so, another 175000 Russians were conscripted today to be canon fodder.

Modern army needs trained people not just combat but on everything. You don't get that level in one year.

This is way (D)ifferent from when they failed to make mission in FY2005.
Back then it was a combination of a good economy and constant combat deployments. Now it truly is a case that those who would normally serve want no part of the Department of Woke.
