I have some very educated human beings around me in my life that are totally losing their minds over this. Like, completely off the rails about to lock themselves in a basement crazy. Some of the crazy shite they've said over the past 2 days is just whacko.

I was unfriended on FB multiple times in 2008. Not too surprised at this.

Not that I know of. I don't care if they don't want to be my friend anymore over it though. They were never real friends. And I don't deal well with emotional unstable people. I tend to move on.

Meh, they weren't real friends if they can't understand how fragile freedom is, and how I saved their arse....

Lost one yesterday.

Deleted me out of all social media, sent me a message telling me that he couldn't believe associate with someone who agrees with Trump. Etc Etc.

Sent him a message back of Good Riddance.

Yes. There are some people I know who, no lie, need true professional intervention. Their behavior is like watching drug addicts or those with mental illness funnel before treatment.

I haven't and wouldn't care if it did happen. We did what had to be done, that is what grown ups do.

Only the guy who said those that voted for Clinton should be round up and executed via firing squad. I unfriended him.

No one else has been unfriended.

I mean, it's not like I'll never talk to them again or anything. I just can't be in the damn cafeteria anymore with them while they're going off. I'm in a pretty liberal field so I get it, but Christ.

if you're losing friends over an election then they weren't real friends to begin with.

I have little tolerance for whiney people that don't accept personal responsibility. As such, I'm usually written off by them after the first conversation/encounter. So, I don't know anyone like that whose friendship I could lose.

I won't lose them, but I honestly think that is in large part because at least for now I'm willing to let them vent and implicitly (and pretty close to explicitly) insult the crap out of me and essentially call me a bigot. Right now I'm pretty much just saying that I think they are overreacting and not being intellectually honest or fair, but that I understand their emotion. I'm not really engaging them. I think if I actually aggressively called them out on their bullshite right now our friendship probably would be in danger because I don't think THEY could handle it.

These are good people and good friends that have lost (hopefully temporarily) their minds over this and I'm banking on them calming down and coming to their senses after a couple of days. If they don't, we probably won't be hanging out much anymore which would suck. I'm honestly shocked by the behavior of a lot of people I know and really like.

I have an uncle that does not speak to me because I would not support Obama and supported Jindal for most of his terms. He is a big anti-trump person and I would call him on his BS even before I was a trump supporter. I hate intellectual elitism.
