Are we witnessing the beginning of The Balkanization of America?

Radical left vs. Conservative America
California and the liberal northwest vs. the Red States.
Liberal New England vs. the Red States.
Urban liberal areas vs. Main Street/small town/rural areas.
Balkanization is defined as the process of fragmentation or division of a region or state into smaller regions or states that are often hostile or uncooperative with each other.
Do you believe that this nation can withstand the differences that we are now facing or will this divide continue to grow? Will the country stay in tact with one of the political philosophies dominating or will it eventually splinter where both philosophies remain but we see separate and independent regions?
What we are witnessing is the battle for the direction and future of this nation. Not so much based on division between ethnic groups but political philosophy. What will this nation become 25 years from now?
Unfortunately I see this country trending in the direction of the European nations where socialist policies will dominate the entire nation eventually.

Football season starts soon. It'll really Balkanize then. These are just the dog days of summer.
Things have to get REALLY bad in order for actual, real change to happen. It's all fun and games until the real blood spills. Most on both sides are simply playing with an idea...which is understandable for young people who lack true purpose.
If there were real consequences they'd find the luster of their shiny new toy wears off quick.

Any attempt by any American political faction to break away from the United States into an independent or autonomous political entity would be met with mass murder by our government.

This is one of Alinsky's rules for radicals; divide the enemy.

For the life of me I can't figure out why anyone would want to. Do we have our problems, yes. However this is a great place to live.

Apparently not for the radical leftist.

Nah, we just need to clean up the trash generated by both the far left and far right. Sanity will return as soon as the Establishment figures out how to regain control.

Absolutely not.
In the first place, most (not all) places in the US are more politically diverse than some would have us believe. Louisiana is a Red State no doubt, but a sizeable minority (33-39% is my guess) of Louisianans are neither conservative nor Republican. I live in East Baton Rouge Parish and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama carried this parish in the last three elections. There are millions of Republicans in California and New York and Illinois even though those three are Blue States.

This is pretty much what happened in the Balkans.

The battle lines will be drawn as those who produce and those who depend on the producers, (takers).
The producers are no longer willing to subsidize the left.

The question is not 'if', but when. The answer to that is unknowable, unfortunately.

Right now it's rural vs urban/ city vs country in the US.

We need to explore a peaceful secession/partition process.
This stupid notion that the only way to get a divorce is to kill your spouse is assinine.

Going on for decades...ever since people started insisting on hyphens.

And then raise the price of gasoline to $18/gal. That way we can help the hippies save the planet.

The 2 sides are getting further apart. It would be great if the left and right would work together to fix the issue but that's not going to happen. Right now it looks like we are heading for some really bad days.
