Between letting Hillary off the hook and then his eleventh hour letter to Congress, Comey managed to piss off everyone on both sides of the aisle. The guy just seems incompetent. Dump him and let Trump pick someone better.

True, but maybe there's an argument that because he's pissing everyone off, he's actually functioning in an effective, competent, non-partisan manner.

OK here's what happened.
Comey got his marching orders to not recommend charges for Hillary, so he didn't. We all know that Trump's margin of victory would have gigantic if he had recommended charges. He did however find a way to maybe influence the election by putting out the '11th hour' letter to Congress and saying they were taking another look at the email thing without committing suicide with 2 in the back of the head.

That could well be. It could also be that he had information linking the Trump campaign to the Russian hacking operation and kept quiet about it while immediately writing letters to Congress about the emails found in the Weiner investigation which turned out to be nothing.
Since this morning's briefing was supposedly about the Russian hacking operation, that theory seems more likely to me, and it would certainly explain why Dems are livid and GOP are mostly silent.

Comey is in a tough spot. He has this shite show of Hildebeast's dumped on his lap and he must investigate it because ....it's something that needs to be investigated because of national security concerns. Then his boss goes off and blows the whole thing up by meeting with the potential target's husband while the investigation is going on on the tarmac in Phoenix....of course he also happens to be a former President.....a FORMER IMPEACHED PRESIDENT. Then he kinda clears her....but not really. Then as the election comes about, Hildebeast's girlfriend's soon to be inmate # XXXXX-XXXXXX at Sing Sing/husband gets nailed for being Carlos Danger.....it's enough to make you start drinking. Or he was like...."awwww frick this, I'm not running cover for this slime any more!!!!"
