AP editors: Obama relies on staged propaganda photos

President Obama, who prefers to circulate press release-style pictures taken by his own paid photographers.
These official photographs are little more than propaganda, according to AP director of photography Santiago Lyon.
The AP has only been permitted to photograph the president alone in the Oval Office on two occasions–both in his first term–and has never been allowed to photograph the president with his staff in the office. The AP generally receives access when foreign leaders are visiting, but at other times the White House relies on its own photographers to take pictures and distribute them to the press.
.....
AP executive editor Kathleen Carroll echoed Lyon’s concerns.
“This works because newspapers use these handout photos,” she said at the conference, according to attendee Jack Lail, digital editor of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
Carroll advised newspaper editors who were present to stop using the White House’s preferred photos in their own stories, according to Lail and other attendees.

Very interesting side notes on coverage of JFK:

The history of White House photography suggests barring photographers in this way may even limit Obama’s propaganda power. Photojournalists snapped many of the best-remembered Oval Office photos, including the picture of a backlit President John F. Kennedy with his head bowed, which was shot by New York Times photographer George Tames. That photo, dubbed “The Loneliest Job In the World,” went on to become an icon of the Cuban Missile Crisis, although it was snapped several months before the crisis and simply showed the president reading a newspaper while standing, to relieve his back pain. During the actual missile crisis, JFK reportedly left the Oval Office to join fabled stripper Blaze Starr in the Lincoln Bedroom for what Starr called a “very short” encounter.

It is just another case of journalists finally pulling their head out of their asses. They never would have had the temerity to do so when he was running, nor in his first term. Now that he is a duck(at least supposed to be one) they can grow a pair of balls about reporting news about him.

Obama is a production not a presidency.
There are writers, directors, production team, media handlers.
This guy is like a fiction novel brought to life but with the ability to affect real people.

This has been obvious for years and has been pointed out many times.
I know I've personally started at least three "Obama Props" threads.
Someone posted recently the props he used to promote Obamacare had never actually purchased anything from the site.
Everything about Obama is a fraud. What else is new?

Controversy aside... Pete Souza is an absolutely awesome photographer.

Juan Williams said yesterday he's never seen a president so elusive and protected by staff.

I saw this on the news last night.
They showed the picture of Obama with his leg bent and up on the oval office desk and questioned his finger pointing.
I wonder about the timing of the press speaking up regarding Obama. Change of shift to Hillary?

While the world is on the brink of destruction.
I'd probably need a short encounter myself.

I think Obama will make history with the most amount of his released propaganda photos being photoshopped.

It takes the MSM awhile to report the obvious. Think they will get around to reporting Obamas love of the MB and terrorists he released from GTMO; after we are all blown to smithereens; Or when Hillary runs?

Kim Jong-Il takes that crown, but it's nice to know that Obama is taking after a true leader.

Why should I care?
If he was an excellent president, he could take all the staged photos he wants.
Note, I said "if"
