Anyone else hate when baby boomers use their age as an argument?

Seriously, frick off. Not all, but many baby boomers constantly point the finger at younger people in their 20s for the problems of America when it's been their shitty generation at the helm of this country for decades now.

That 'oh shite' moment when you realize that the generations behind you understand that Social Security is a ponzi scheme.

Maybe, but my employers and I will have paid into it for 55 years by the time I plan to start taking any of it at age 70, and I will have paying in the max amount for at least 40 of those years, so excuse me if I settle back and get paid.

Not again! Argue any point you want, but one thing we can agree on...we didn't need a safe space!

Now be a good little boy/girl and go back inside.

Respect their experience more than their age. Age doesn't automatically make someone wise, but it's foolish to ignore the experiences of those that come before us. Nine times out of ten, they've already been through it.

They complain about us but drain the system we are supporting.

I'm constantly reminded on this board, there is still hope in America!

Wise young person right there.

I'd like to just point out that when boomers were 25, they were no more "at the helm" than today's 25 year olds.

Thats not to excuse them. It's merely to point out that no generation is ever "at the helm" alone

Yea, it sure looks like the boomers have fricked us in more way than one. But we haven't exactly been topping the exceedingly low standards they set.

Boomers did their part to put us in today's mess and we've certainly done ours. So time to nut up and stop crying about it.

Damn straight! Had I listened to some of those people with more experience I could have saved myself a lot of heartache in this life. Instead I was just like the OP, "Damn old people don't know anything about my struggle". Wrong!

It's also hard for me to take complaints about the boomers over spending seriously from young people who then..........demand MORE spending.

That's like a husband bitching about his wife spending too much.......so, the husband says frick it, and maxes out all the credit cards.

In any case, like I said. When boomers were 25, they weren't "running things". And, when they reached 50, there were plenty of 25 year olds who could've voted to reign shite in.

In fact, if people will remember right, that boomer generation tried, vie electing Bush in 2000, to get the Fed to do something about SS.

And, the left had an aneurysm. It was called a "Risky scheme" and, bluntly speaking, the young vote almost 100% bought that shite.

So, since you bought it, let me remind you that we were told the "Risky scheme" was just too expensive because it would cost $700B.

Fast forward a few years. Anyone want to tell me how much stimulus money was spent during the bailout? Yeah. A fricking lot more than $700B and guess what? SS STILL isn't fixed!

When boomers retire this system will collapse.

You people keep hating on the boomers but consider this...

The boomers did not pass. social security
The boomers did not pass welfare
The boomers did not pass Medicaid
The boomers did not pass Medicare

The greatest generation and the Silent Generations are the ones who put our country on the road to financial collapse not the boomers.

Boomers paid in to these systems their entire lives.
Boomers did not even get elected to office until the 1990s
We were already in trouble before they came to power

Worse yet.

While True that Obama was a boomer, He was elected by you Millennials by a 68% margin twice.
You Millennials also overwhelmingly voted for Hillary.

And remember it was the democrats who took SS from the independent trust fund and placed it in a general fund so Congress could spend it. It was the democrats who eliminated the income tax withholding deduction for Social Security and started taxing SS annuities...

And yet, they always claim OMGZ! REPUBLICANS ARE COMING FOR YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY, SO VOTE FOR US!!!!!!!
