In 2002, he founded Centaurus Advisors with $8 million—his last Enron bonus, paid out just days before the company filed for bankruptcy—in Houston, Texas, to invest in futures, options, and derivatives for coal, natural gas, and crude oil. Centaurus entered the public eye in 2006 when Arnold bet against the enormous hedge fund Amaranth Advisors, which predicted that natural gas prices would rise and lost $5 billion when the market proved otherwise. At its peak Centaurus managed some $6 billion before Arnold closed the fund and retired in 2012 at the age of 38, establishing the Laura and John Arnold Foundation with his wife—a former oil executive—soon after. His estimated net worth is $3.3 billion as of writing.

Much of the Arnolds’ philanthropy has funded causes favored by the Left, such as ranked-choice voting, litigation against supposed Republican gerrymandering in congressional maps, and the eco-Right, groups infiltrating the conservative movement with a left-wing global-warming agenda. They have personally donated to numerous Democratic campaigns, the Democratic Party’s leading congressional political action committee (House Majority PAC), and both of Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns.

Odd the trustee didn't claw this back

It's possible his cooperation was rewarded in the eventual investigations.
I don't know much about trading at that level, but wasn't enron claiming a lot of natural gas assets that didn't actually exist?

He's probably buddies with Andrew Weissmann and he let him keep it in a sweetheart deal. This is just speculation on my behalf, of course. Andrew oversaw the prosecution of that enron bull.

She's got crazy eyes much like that singing communist they tried to appoint to the Ministry of Propaganda and Left-Wing Censorship that luckily failed bigly.
She looks like she would be ecstatic to turn TX into the next California.
At age 28 he was an Enron Exec making an 8 Million Bonus just before the company went under? Ok. Hmmm....

I think I know which one wears the strap on in this relationship.

John Arnold is perhaps the greatest natty gas trader that ever lived.
I'm sure in MAGA world some of what he supports is going to be "left wing" but in the non-insane world he's viewed as a smart, thoughtful person.
And, who are any of you to question a man who's made millions? People wealthier than you are beyond reproach (unless, of course, you somehow accumulate more cash than them)!

Supporting climate change regulations to an administration that goes out of its way to block and destroy LNG product movement seems hypocritical for a former natural gas trader, no?

Bernie Madoff was a billionaire
Harvey Weinstein was a billionaire
George Soros is a billionaire

I don't think Arnold is just supporting climate change regulations generally. I would guess he is advocating for a transition path, involving fossil fuels through that time, plus CCS (like xom and cvx). I know for a fact he is actively investing in O&G through a private credit group headed by former EIG execs.
To say this guy is a "soros type" completely undermines the OP and his link.

Not a billy.
I was making a joke as a person's wealth has been used to defend them from any criticism (Musk, Trump).

What is really odd is that all of the ENRON convictions, except 1, were overturned.
Why did the gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooberment cause the collapse?

Are you kidding? What if two people wealthier than us disagree? They are both right?

You think rich people never do wrong?!?!? It’s much more likely he has all that money bc he’s a corrupt POS than some altruistic do gooder whos never cut a corner
The incredible nativity in that comment disqualifies most everything else you say
