I despise the Kennedy's as much as anyone ... but, let's not act like she's the first person to beat a DUI.
And, I bet she/they paid a hefty price to do so.
Not like money matters to them, of course.
Don't even see how this is newsworthy.

Has anyone ever admitted to being intoxicated and been acquitted?

No doubt Kennedys are above the law, but who takes an ambien right after waking up, preparing to drive in rush hour traffic? If she did that on purpose, she's an incredible idiot.

A crime? You people are like a pack of snarling dogs.

On January 10, 2013, the Food and Drug Administration announced it is requiring the manufacturer of Ambien and Zolpimist to cut the recommended dosage for women in half, after laboratory studies showed that the medicines can leave patients drowsy in the morning and at risk for car accidents. The FDA recommended that manufacturers extend the new dosage cuts to men as well, who process the drug at a faster rate; however, the reasons men and women metabolize the drugs at different rates are still unknown.[12] In May 2013, the FDA approved label changes specifying new dosage recommendations for zolpidem products because of concerns regarding next-morning impairment.[13]

As people filed out of courtroom, Kennedy told reporters she was not angry with the prosecutors who brought the case.
How telling is this statement?? Why does it matter whether she's angry with the prosecutors or not?

How many things that are interesting actually matter?

Any criminal defense attorney worth their salt could try this case with Joe Public as the defendant and win.
I have no love for the Kennedy family, but this is just silly.

Isn't the Kennedy family slowly dying out? After JohnJohn bit the dust I can't come up with another future patriarch.

a lot of raging meidocrity in that gene pool
Old granddad made a fortune running scotch or whatever his liquor was. They bred like rabbits, had all the advantages money, connections, and a pliant media could buy, and fortunately none of the current generation of them is making any sort of splash at all.
The only answer for one of them to get back on track is to come out as a cocksucker.

Long live the Kennedy's, the greatest American institution

The law says it is. You're responsible if you take a substance that impairs your ability to drive.
And anyone with two brain cells to rattle together knows not to drive after taking certain medications unless you have a lot of experience with it and know how you're going to react to it.
