Governor Ron DeSantis has made voting easier in certain Florida counties battered by Hurricane Ian – but only Republican-leaning ones.
DeSantis signed an executive order on Thursday that eases voting rules for about 1 million voters in Lee, Charlotte and Sarasota counties, all areas that Hurricane Ian hit hard and that all reliably vote Republican.
Meanwhile, Orange county, a Democratic-leaning area which experienced historic flooding from the storm, received no voting exceptions, reported the Washington Post.
The accommodations include extended early voting days and the ability for voters to send mail-in ballots from addresses not listed in voting records.

Oh, now according to WaPo and the "news media" this is not okay...

I hate when Republicans do the same shite they bitch about Democrats doing, but it seems that the only way to defeat them is to play by their rules.

Hurricanes along the coast are much more widespread

I thought Dems were all about making it easier for people to vote?

I was in Orlando Saturday. Orange County is fine.
In fact, Orange County pumped all their storm water to Osceola County and people down there flooded! Screw Orange County.

quote:I know someone that lives on Merrit Island they got rain. Someone in Davie Fla, rain and a brief twister. Orlando had a little flooding but it is usually an evac place.
Orange County-Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.
So it was HISTORIC Orlando got some rain.
It would be ridiculous to give Orlando the same privileges as the coast. The media is so DNC.
The Villages is closer to the West Coast. Very pro republican/Trump they would have to get this before Orlando did.

Three coastal counties compared to an inland county?
I think they might be making an issue out of nothing.

Elections have consequences. If Gillum wasn’t into meth and gay orgies, he could have been calling the shots.

Time for another federal investigation.

Orlando is fine. We didn't get shite compared to down south.

Yeah that doesn't actually mean anything without context. I don't hope for places to be wiped out but historic flooding could be a couple inches while we're having a picture painted that communities have been washed away.

Has the Infrastructure been destroyed? How many residents were displaced? Are the polling places intact? How much energy from the population is focused on rebuilding the area right now?

so he did it to republican counties but not the democratic county that was flooded due to the same storm. I see why they are upset.
Y'all would be pissed if it was the other way around.

There’s a few damp yards still.

You believe Orlando flooding is still going on? Dumbass.

I was told that Governors, SecsState and state courts were allowed to ignore state voting laws if extenuating circumstances intervened.
