Megyn Kelly No Longer Hosting Sandy Hook Benefit Due to Alex Jones Interview

quote:

Megyn Kelly is facing repercussions following her interview with Sandy Hook hoaxer Alex Jones. Sandy Hook Promise, a leading gun violence prevention organization, released a statement on Monday that the NBC host will no longer emcee the organization’s annual Promise Champions Gala on June 14 in Washington D.C. “This decision was spurred by NBC’s planned broadcast of Kelly’s interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who believes the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, was a hoax,” the statement read. “Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host. It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview,” said Nicole Hockley, co-Founder and Managing Director. Kelly, 46, tweeted a clip from the Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly interview over the weekend, teasing the sit-down, which is set to air June 18. On Monday, Jones also called for his interview to be taken off the air. “I’m calling for @megynkelly to cancel the airing of our interview for misrepresenting my views on Sandy Hook,” he tweeted.

I don't get the outrage. Just because you interview a person doesn't mean you endorse that person. In fact it's often just the opposite.

This outrage makes no sense.

Menopause could not stop her bleeding, from wherever it's coming from.

Giving Alex Jones a platform probably wasn't the greatest idea she's had.

who the hell thought allowing Alex Jones to get a mainstream interview was a good idea?

Alex Jones on Joe Rogan? amazing

Alex Jones on NBC? down syndrome

It's such a dangerous place that the left will not allow others to even HEAR different views.

Maher expended so much political capital on merely having Milo on his show. Now this. I don't get it.

This interview will be great. I really hope they don't cut it with the pressure.

It's a fine idea - especially if you're a leftist and you realize that MSM had 11 days to edit and alter it to make Jones look awful

Giving a platform to someone who says Sandy Hook was a hoax pretty much ends your association with the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation.

Winston, you are as MAGA as I am, but come on man, Alex Jones spouting off that the Sandy Hook tradegy was staged is a bit much don't you think?

He is a fringe nutjob with opinions like that. NBC should not give him a platform to spout such garbage.

Frick him

The news media censors itself from covering newsworthy people...that's the story that is developing because bet your arse this won't make it to air

I think it has everything to do with WHO she interviewed. Both AJ and Putin are the devil apparently.

And FNC acolytes are probably pissed b/c she took AJ out of context...which NBC is notorious for.

That's the world we live in now, suppression of opposing beliefs/ideas. Quite honestly, I want idiots to be as vocal as possible, so I know exactly who they are. As for the left, they want to silence opposing views for the sole basis most of their platform has no logical basis, hence isn't really defendable - so they want exposure to the other side held to a minimum.

I don't care for Megan but the backlash is silly. I want all views to be expressed even if I vehemently disagree with them. Why are they punishing her for interviewing him?
