Anapolis Chief of Police cites satire during testimony

37 OD's in one day
My buddy was at this hearing and texted me what he witnessed.
A Senator corrected the Chief and the Chief replied that was the info he was given. This is a guy in charge of local prohibition in the capital of MD. He should know better.

Testifying against marijuana legalization before the Maryland legislature today, Annapolis Police Chief Michael Pristoop warned of the potentially lethal consequences. "The first day of legalization, that's when Colorado experienced 37 deaths that day from overdose on marijuana," Pristoop told the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. "I remember the first day it was decriminalized there were 37 deaths."

Pristoop seemed taken aback that something he had seen in print might not be the literal truth. "If it was a misquote," he told Raskin, "then I'll stand behind the mistake. But I'm holding on to information I was provided."

So people are dropping like flies from pot. I still think we should give pot smokers life.

My experience is that most people who mistakenly cite parody as truth often have no idea that the concept of parody even exists. They tend to be literalists. They were the kids who didn't get the joke.

I almost hate Satire sites because every day I see people on my FB news feed posting these articles and commenting on how racist Republicans are or how Obama said is gonna kill all the conservatives.
These people just share every dumb fake article they see on FB and take it as truth, because they never do anything but look on FB.

That is very interesting.
I can think of a few folks in my personal life that fits this.
Interesting observation

What's scary is that dumb son of a bitch is in charge.

I would lose my shite if I saw that happen in real time.
People, it can't be stated enough that local gov't officials are true dumbass morons. Some of the dumbest people you will ever meet is a local politician/official.
