Louisiana sales tax will cause them to scale this hiring back.

That did not happen in Maryland a couple of years ago when we started paying taxes on amazon purchases. They opened a huge warehouse in Baltimore and had strong hiring. Their service, as always, is quite impeccable.

Come on now, to be fair, obama did invest billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars into developing Brazilian oil reserves.

After that meeting Race Bannon took Bezos into a back room and scared him straight.

I tuned into glen beck for the first time in a while yesterday.. he was complaining about trump running the country like a CEO (being the CEO of all ceos and meeting with corporations about jobs, etc) and explained that was the beginning of facism. It irritated me so much I turned it off, but what was the purpose of saying that? How is this not a good thing? Why is nationalism a bad thing?

They are displacing the Macy's and Sears type workers. Over time, this will be a net wash.

This is more about their largest competitor announcing they were going to hire 1,000,000.

You can likely add JCPenney in there as well. Even Neiman Marcus is getting pinched--they had plans for an IPO but their sales numbers took a tumble so it was withdrawn.

Traditional department stores are getting killed with the rise of Amazon, Etsy, and even eBay sells new merchandise.

I drove by their warehouse between NYc and Connecticut and that thing was the biggest warehouse I have ever seen. Seemed like it went on for damn near 3/4 of a mile

They have opened up your 6 facilities around Columbus (data Analytics; distribution); seems like they've really been doing a lot around the country.

Unfortunately(but inevitably) those 100000 jobs will probably cost 500k from storefront type businesses. And then, eventually I absolutely believe there will be very little human involvement in fulfillment centers.

The recent video's of Amazon's robotics in their warehouses are absolutely insane. Good for the consumer, bad for jobs imo.

This would be an employee increase of about 30%
