Fox says that the FBI damaged the actual gun and had to put it back together with used parts to do the tests on the trigger. The defense will tear that apart

One would think they'd test the normal trigger operations BEFORE testing the "hammer down, hit it with a mallet" option......
....unless they were in on the "find a way to make it dismissible" angle.

I thought they were using the gun for target practice on site while not filming.. that would suggest the gun was in good working order...
