This bill kills people.

The Republican bill to repeal and replace Obamacare does not allocate nearly enough money to protect people with pre-existing health conditions from potentially higher insurance premiums, an analysis finds.
The bill's $23 billion in funding specifically for such people would cover just 110,000 Americans, according to the Avalere Health study released Thursday.
That's only 5 percent of the 2.2 million current enrollees in the individual insurance market with some type of pre-existing chronic condition.
And even if states were to add in all the other money in the bill's $100 billion Patient and State Stability Fund, only a total of 600,000 people with pre-exisiting conditions could be covered, the study found.
This bill kills people.

It doesn't matter. The House bill is DOA in the US Senate. It has ZERO chance of passing in any form near what the House is voting on today.

The Left loves to drama queen, don't they folks

All of these factors are why it won't pass the Senate.

To be fair. Doesn't this new bill say something about not allowing people with current coverage to be kicked off their insurance. Those people should be ok as long as they are able to keep the coverage after the massive increases in premiums they will see if this is passed.
Kids born 3 months from now with Type 1 diabetes are screwed though.

this is simply not true. Yes, 80% of type 2 diabetes are fatties but not the other 20% are normal or underweight.

Never, ever, ever, ever assume that Republicans will do what's in their constituents' best interests rather than their lobbyists.
And their lobbyists want their sweet, sweet tax breaks.

How about Type 1? That's what my son has and he did nothing to get it nor could it have been prevented. He essentially has no pancreatic function.
That said, the bill is still a step in the right direction by allowing more flexibility with how states set up HC plans and allowing more market based solutions. The problem I have is his Humalog insulin used to be $17/bottle when it came out 22 years ago and is now $250. I can accept paying more for HC because of my son but I don't appreciate getting bent over.
Of course neither this bill nor OCare fix the issues because both are still too focused on coverage rather than costs. Focus on reducing costs through competition and creativity and it makes the coverage issue far less. The reason coverage is a problem is the cost of the insurance and HC is inflated due to regulation.

Until the EHB waivers kick in and plans adapt to price the chronically ill out of existing plans, sure.
