And you're functionally retarded if you think so, ill be happy to debate anyone that thinks otherwise.

I'll go on to say it would cause much more environmental damage than clean coal, gas or nuclear.

Honestly, I'd like the ability to generate my own power/supplemental power if it was cost effective. I just don't want to be forced into it with no reliable alternative.

Nuclear emits zero carbon.

Do some research into green energy storage. Off hours power will be stored in hydrogen tanks, hydro generation ponds, or vanadium/lithium batteries. I've invested in the vanadium battery solution.

There’s no doubt the more America shifts to green technology the more we’ll rely on China for the rare earth materials to manufacture green technologies or EO Joe will buy our green technologies from China.

How many batteries will it take to store peak 700million KWH?

Green power not good enough to supply all of us with power. If the government wants to really make a difference they need to give rebates to people who have low electric bills , newer windows , upgraded attic insulation, newer AC units and solar panels. They need to step in and keep power companies from charging people with solar more then other consumers.

There is a force on our planet so powerful it moves the entire ocean twice a day. If anyone was serious about harnessing energy from the environment, tidal generators would be producing electricity around the globe. Their absence is all your need to know about the tree hugging lunatics.

Still problems with that I believe costs and also getting the power where its needed.

Long-term (200-300 years) the planet needs to find alternatives for fossils but the whole made up climate change thing isn't helping.

As for me, the world will be running on fossils more or less for the rest my lifetime.

BREAKING:

@ERCOT_ISO says most of the electric generating plants that went off-line last night were natural gas, coal or nuclear facilities that shut down.

Combined, that took more than 30,000 megawatts from the grid -- leading to the rotating outages.

Every family will be outfitted with an exercise bike hooked up to a generator. A family member will be legally required to be riding the bike at all times. Failure to do so will result in fines and imprisonment including hard labor at energy generation farms.

maybe lowering the quality of life/living standards of the first world is the objective

So what? T Boone Pickens built a wind farm on the panhandle of Texas. The long-term cost and problems are so high that they are not really economically viable. Let alone on massive scale, what you are talking about would still require huge amounts of storage as well.

$$$$$$$$

Getting energy is not the problem, getting energy economically and working in the real world is the problem... meaning scale.

The elephant in the room is... there are way too many people already.
