7 years to make a reasonable, meaningful plan for replacement. This garbage was all we get

It deserved to die
As someone who identifies more on the conservative side on most issues, I was most excited trump won so we could easily repeal and replace Obamacare
Republicans bitched and moaned about Obamacare for 7 years. Voted to repeal it again and again because they knew it had no chance at becoming law. And now they have power? They're too chicken shite to do anything
This bill was god awful. It didn't do anything to address any of the problems of expensive healthcare or the ACA. It deserved to die
So congrats republicans. You had 7 years to come up with any idea worth a shite and this is what you gave us.
fricking. Garbage.

Maybe put a little blame on your leader in the White House.
Say what you want about Obamacare, Obama worked his arse off to get it passed. Trump took the weekends off in Mar a Lago.

Well, but he got it passed didn't he? What did Trump do?

ETA: Also, Republicans can no longer run on "repeal and replace" and be taken seriously.

Holy shite, is that what you want?
Are you telling me if Trump takes the exact same shameful, undemocratic path to healthcare reform that Obama took and deliver a complete disaster of a bill, you will respect him more?

They didn't actually believe they'd win in 2016, so why waste the effort all the years prior was probably their thinking.

Be honest, you had no idea what to replace it with.

And lot of that was disingenuous. Today it bit them in the arse.
Ryan had been working a plan. This had a lot of his reform ideas. Major (one might say huuge) ideas like making Medicaid a state block grant.
Where was the HFC? They filled a bill in February and nobody knows what the frick it does. Hell the best idea the HOUSE Freedom Caucus has is from a freakin' Senator!
frick them.

For 7 years they were playing "fantasy football"
quote:
Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) admitted as much as he left the meeting Friday. Reporters asked why, after Republicans held dozens of nearly-unanimous votes to repeal Obamacare under President Obama, they were getting cold feet now that they control the levers of power. “Sometimes you’re playing Fantasy Football and sometimes you’re in the real game,” he said. “We knew the president, if we could get a repeal bill to his desk, would almost certainly veto it. This time we knew if it got to the president’s desk it would be signed.”

Obama's mom was fighting with insurance companies when she was dying of cancer.
Trump was the guy who gave out breast enhancements like candy.
They have very different experiences with insurance.

The AARP was working single mindedly to get this bill voted down. A lot of congressional phones were ringing off of the hooks.

Why? This bill was supposedly Obamacare 2.0. They should have been happy.
Posted on 3/24/17 at 6:17 pm to BigJim
It raises premiums and weakens Medicare. Also would possibly shift things to a Voucher program with more costs and risks to Seniors.
As an AARP member I got emails every day asking for calls and letters to Congress.

Message from the AARP to me.
Friend –
By now I'm sure you've heard the good news: Your millions of phone calls and emails to Congress made the difference! You convinced the House of Representatives to back off the special interest health care bill – and I can't thank you enough.
I just recorded a quick message to personally thank you for speaking out, whether it was online, on the phone, or in person. Your voice matters, and it made a huge impact for so many people who would have been hurt by this bill.

The fight to protect health care and make it better for all Americans is far from over, and we have so much more hard work ahead of us. But you've proven once again that when everyday people speak out and organize together, we can make our representatives listen.
Thanks again for everything that you did to stop this bill, and for everything that you do to make a difference. Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Fred Griesbach
