A new set of restrictions under the law are to take effect on Sept 1. that will impose surgical center standards for abortion clinics, even those that perform nonsurgical medication abortions.

This part seems like it would get struck down. Non surgical procedures are required to be done in surgical center standards? That's blatantly not about safety.

I believe this Texas abortion law, along with the new New York gun control law, are destined to be struck down by the SCOTUS.

Ladies - Sure, you might have had abortions under the old system but they weren't good abortions. This law guarantees that everyone will have good abortions.

It amazes me that conservatives not only condone, but fully support the oppression of women

that's sort of a leap from an argument about killing babies. if you think a fetus is a human entity worthy of legal protection from murder, that literally has nothing to do with "oppressing" anything. that may be a bigger leap than claiming not paying for BC oppresses women

i am not religious and believe abortion is HIGHLY immoral, for a variety of reasons (i don't think it should be illegal, so don't even go there). i do think a woman who has an abortion resulting from consensual sex should be open to criticism

Your ignorance of relatively common knowledge in politics is not my problem. This ground has been covered ad nauseam.

I don't bookmark every fricking thing. To give ua link, I would use Google. I know how u can save a step in this process.

Just for informational purposes I heard on the news yesterday that before this legislation was passed there were 22 abortion clinics in the state. There are now six facilities. None in the Rio Grande valley area.

Rob, I'm going to ask again: what would you like to see done to safeguard the health of the woman getting an abortion that would not cause an undue burden for her?

I ask this sincerely, because I think most of us will agree that the conditions for women outlined in the Gosnell case are unacceptable, regardless of which side of the abortion debate you choose. Perhaps this could be an area of honest agreement on what is otherwise a very contentious issue.
