Yesterday's USA Today has their 'news in the 50 states' page....where they only describe an event in one sentence.
La news was that someone introduced a bill to get rid of the inspection sticker requirement for personal cars. It was defeated.
I never heard anything about the bill in local news... TV, radio or newspapers.
Does anyone know why it was defeated? Did they do any polling of the public's opinion?

It was going to do away with the inspection sticker but add the fee to the registration process when you get your plate. The two reasons I heard it defeated was it keeps safe cars on the street and many people make a living with inspection stations.

That's interesting because I've been told just the opposite. I've had to change stations twice in the last 10 years. Both times when I went to my old stations they had the same answer "The tiny amount we make off the sticker is not worth our time and labor."
