No Clear Cut Number One

When was the last time their really was a clear cut number one. My freshman year we lost to USC 17-12, and Bama 3-0, both finished ranked number one.I can rememeber when Florida State came into tiger Stadium when we had Hallman, and we lost on the last drive, and we hit so hard Florida State had 23 players out the next week. It is going to be a long season, But in my opinion we are the defending champs and we are number 1 until we get beat.I hope we don't.

IMO
...USC had only beaten Virginia and Oh St.
no great feat.
This "almost" guarantees that a one-loss team may get into the BCS NC.

I agree. It is ashamed how the national sports casters fall in love with a team.

If you're talking about 1979, Alabama finished No. 1 in the AP and UPI polls. USC finished second in both.

I say make jerkga #1. Just because they won't be after they go through their schedule. They play a harder schedule than the sooners.
