Despite the disinformation spread by the left,
AIDS is very rarely transmitted from heterosexual contact.
As for the film, given the time frame and her druggie party lifestyle it's implied it's HIV/AIDS.

Jenny died of AIDS.
Little Forrest was checked for it and didn't have it.
Mama died of "the cancer".

I've always thought they implied AIDS from what she says to Forrest that she has a virus and the doctors dont know what it is. And nowhere is it mentioned that lil Forrest didnt contract it.

As I recall,in the original novel by Winston Groom, Jenny didn't get AIDS and didn't die. They probably had her die in the movie to create a more dramtic ending.
