My buddy is an Aggie and we've been wondering the same thing for a while. Makes sense given the proximity and how they both share the same recruiting grounds.

A&M won the ten year series 6-4 I believe... including winning the last four under hallman if i'm remembering right on that as well

I believe there was an option for a couple more years but LSU wasn't interested then because they were playing so poorly

Now the shoe is on the other foot and A&M has zero interest in getting beaten or helping LSU recruit Texas

you can thank Joe Dean for backing out of this series.... That guy was a crooked bitch.

I love the series and want it to come back.

That's exactly what happened. The original deal was for 12 years, and we backed out of the last two years. Although it wasn't because of the 12-team SEC, because the last game against A&M was 1995, the fourth year of the new alignment.

Since then, I believe that we have tried to schedule them again, but they are 1) still sore about us backing out and 2) unwilling to give us any more of a foothold in their perceived home turf of Houston. A little late for #2 if you ask me.

Anyways, my brothers and I consist of two A&M grads and two LSU grads, so I wish there was a way we could bring the series back. But especially now with A&M playing Arkansas every year in Dallas, you can bet that it will never again be a recurring series.

Being an LSU student in 1986 when the 10 year home and home series opened up at Tiger Stadium, I can remember the awesome build-up leading into that opener......T.S. was VERY loud throughout that game.....I believe A&M was preseason ranked #3 going into that game. Tommy Hodson to Sammy Martin........TD!!!

My Aggie buddy openly admits that he wants no part of renewing the series.

I don't blame him.....we would kill 'em on several fronts besides the gridiron

That's not exactly true. We signed a 10 year deal to run from 1988-1997. Both teams wound up with open dates in 86 and 87 so we played those years. LSU's POV was that the deal was for 10 games and that's what we played. A&M's POV is that the deal was supposed to go from 88-97, that the 86/87 games were extra and LSU backed out of the last 2.

Having graduated form HS in the Houston area, I have may friends that are Aggies, I really miss the series.

The biggest hit would be recruiting I think. We all know how LSU gets all that talent outta A&M's backyard....getting their arse kicked by LSU would only compound the problem even worse! OU already rules north Texas, LSU bites a chunk outta southeast Texas. I can run off alot of great Tigers from east Texas. Addai, Flynn, Black, Wilkerson, etc...That's gotta hurt Lonestar pride.
