What is the correlation between Keanu Reeves and Ohio State?

In Point Break and The Replacements he was an ex-QB from Ohio State. Did he actually attend there or something?

In the Replacements they call him "Footsteps" Falco and said they got "Pummelled" in the sugar bowl.
