10 months after bring drafted, Rodon came in in the 6th inning for the Sox.

So far he is:

2.1 IP
3 walks
3 hits
2 earned runs
7.71 career ERA

Welcome to the show kid.

Indians have come within inches multiple times of taking him deep.

One just bounced off the top of the wall and came back into play for a double

First career K on the next batter though.

They really didn't waste any time with him in the minors.

Yea, he only pitched like 30something minor league innings I think.

Definitely rushed this, but I think the Sox know they will suck this year

Yeah I just looked up his numbers from the minors. They weren't bad by any means, but also not super spectacular. Seems a little rushed to bring him up, but I don't follow the white sox at all so I don't know their pen situation.

I'm sure he'll be fine though and in hindsight I wish the Astros took him over Aiken for obvious reasons.

Im biased for obvious reasons, but he is a really fun pitcher to watch when he is dealing. Man those were some epic games in college. Poor Stros and Aiken

They had to rush him up. He only has so many pitches in that arm and NC State pitched him too much. His stint was always going to be short in the minors. Will be interesting to see how he does in the bigs.

I hope the kid has a good mental makeup. Getting shelled as a pitcher can destroy your confidence especially one so young and relatively inexperienced.
It's the White Sox though, so frick em.

I mean, Aaron Nola pitched 331.8 college innings
Carlos Rodon pitched 345 college innings.

Over the past two years?
Nola 242
Rodon 230

I guess its a legit argument Nola was overpitched as well. I feel like he wasnt pitched abnormally for a stud college ace though. I get where youre coming from though, he pitched a lot in his sophomore year because of State's reliance on him in the postseason

I don't think Rodon was rushed. They legitimately think that he is the fourth best starter in the organization as soon they move him into the rotation.

Also, the White Sox are looking to compete this year. they should not suck.

I agree. I used to be a college guy no matter what, but if I had a son that was a stud pitcher, I would likely tell him to go to MLB. Position player, go to college. There are only so many throws in these big time stud arms. That is assuming he goes top 5-6 rounds. Or maybe If he would be a draft eligible soph.

Hope Rodon does well. Dude is a great pitcher.
