MSST gained a lot of steam in the crystal ball, anyone know why?
He seriously hasn't said much of anything about his recruitment

Jerry Meyer and Crystal Ball Crew on 247.

MSST Boards are buzzing. Last time they were this bullish it was over Leo Lewis a few months ago.

Thats All I got.

His dad played there and they just hired a coach who has had a bunch of success in the past. They have also just hired some good recruiters.

He's not worried about winning. Wants the ball in his hands all game, every game. Wants to be THE guy.

It only took me 5 minutes of the MCDAA game to figure that out.

Hopefully, LSU is better off with Brandon Sampson, and the last scholarship can go to a big man.

Newman to State would likely have the same ending as Anthony Randolph to LSU. Lottery pick on a bad team.

Close to home, his dad played at State, they just hired Howland, and he'll have virtually all of their offense run through him.

PT and development. MSU's new HC was Russell Westbrook's former coach and MN's dad is big on MSU. At MSU Newman would have all the PT he wants and a mentor coach as he sees it. Other factors could push Newman to choose something else but he is a professed one and done and is looking for the most work he can get.

The bad news about Howland is he tears a player down to build them back up the way he wants to mold them.

Folks have got to remember that Westbrook wasn't lighting them up in the NBA right out of UCLA. It took him about 3 years. To say his present prowess was all Howland is not correct. I'd suggest it had as much if not more to do with his coaches at OK City.

Unless Howland changed significantly in how he works with his players, I see a big personality clash between Malik and the MSU Coach. And we all know how that is going to work out. If Malik is truly ready for prime time, he needs a coach that will allow him to show his stuff and work the pieces without too much command and control. That is more like CJJ.
