Back up old phone with iTunes, Take out SIM card with safety pin, plug in new phone, plug new phone into laptop and restore new phone. It's complicated, I know, but together we can get through this

Just swap the sim card from your 4S to your 5, you will need to cut it with scissors but that is easy, and you'll be good to go.

It is very easy, you can just do it by eye, have done it multiple times.

I haven't been required to cut or buy a new SIM card for my iPhone throughout the last several generations

The new phones have a smaller sim than the old phones. You can make your old card fit the new phone by cutting it.

The iPhone 5 and up takes a completely different sim card (nano) than the previous gens. So yes, you have a different sim than you did with a 4S/below.

You went from a 4s to a 5 and can't wait? I hate to break it to you but you done fricked up if you think it is a lot better.

To me, the 4s to the 5 was the biggest performance jump apple has ever had, as far as speed. The OP will notice a significant difference. I have a 6 now and don't see any leaps or bounds as of lately compared to the 5s. But, your ego seems to be attempting leaps and bounds. Good luck with that.

I bought a 5s last December after 2-3 years with a 4. I regret it now. Performance is fine, but I long for the bigger 6 Plus.

So you're a size queen. That's a different story.

So you posted on two different forums awaiting an answer before you simply swapped the sims and figured it out for yourself?
