In case anyone is looking for a good deal.

I added another one because no tv in the house should be without a chromecast.

lol fixed subject typo.

thanks. i'm on a non-baller tech spending spree today--added a fifth printer/scanner (long story), that $500 touchscreen laptop, and now this.

i've never used Chromecast. Roku and Apple TV so far. why not for $20?

download the following after you set up your chromecast:

- hd cinema
- popcorn time
- showbox

(search for apks..none of these are on play store)

followed by

- localcast
- growbox <-- YOU'RE WELCOME. brings back chromecast functionality for Showbox by pretending localcast is 'mx player' (this will make sense when you are at this point)

hear me now and believe me later

Just bought it. I really wanted Amazon's firestick, but for $20 I decided to give it a try...

best part for me at least is in dragging tvs around the house you can plug it in and immediately start watching shows without worrying about if there's a cable drop somewhere or hooking up DVR nonsense or anything.

as long as you have netflix, pandora or google play you're good to go without any other cables to clutter things up.

yep $20..you cant beat that.

Cad. Was gonna drop into best buy when I got off work today and get one. Funny this thread got started.

Its only 35 new. I was trying to figure out what cast screen was on my G3 and started reading up on chromecast today. Get me up with the skinny on how to max this bitch out. Any hacks, best apps, what to use it for, when, etc.

Isn't most of this stuff available with a smart TV? What can chromecast do that the smart TV cannot?

ask yourself if you'd rather have your entire TV software experience written by a chinese programmer who is also gluing your TV panel to the circuit board or google.

then i dont think you will ask this question again.

eta thats like asking if verizen and sprint improve your phone experience with their 'smart phone' customizations.
