how does a network not pick him and this show up?

seems like it would kill in ratings if it was like the original

I think lawsuits killed them, not ratings

The goat pedo was the one who showed up with his 5-year-old (and of course it was in FL).

was it lawsuits or just general dislike and outrage by people for the show. it being on NBC probably didnt help keep it on the air when people started complaining.

Pretty sure they busted a congressmen or someone like that and he killed himself before it aired and that's what fricked everything up

My problem with those shows were that they took advantage of lonely, often slow weirdos and never really protected real teenagers.

i just don't believe that as Internet savvy as teens are these days, they are getting hoodwinked into having sex with 40 year old fat dudes. No 15 year old girl is out there on the net getting seduced by these losers.

They just bait these lonely weirdos and the real teen girls and sometimes boys are not in danger in the real world.

we are talking about girls in the age range of 12-15. even though they are internet savvy, theyre still a young teen talking to a grown man, who has bad intentions. you talk about the men being lonely but that can also be said of the girls on the other end. they might be unpopular at school and joe blow in the chatroom gives them attention.

the show was there for ratings. i dont believe any of it was to protect people first and foremost. shite, i think some of those people that work for perverted justice are probably creeps themselves that get off to that shite theyre 'pretending' to do

You might do Tindr trolls and have 22 year old guys trying to bone a 16 year old, but To Catch A Predator always busted sad sacks and weirdos that would never get invited over by a real girl.

You vastly overestimate society.

The main problem with rebooting this is chatroom use is way down so they'd have to catfish dudes on twitter and facebook which would make the entrapment even more appalling.

I loved to watch the show and the Perverted Justice chat people always seemed to be fat, ugly chicks with man issues.

The show did a service and spooked a lot of pervs but I just don't see how it could work in 2015. There are no more chat rooms. Like someone said, you would have to catfish these guys now and I just can't see how it could ever work.

yea i think they started to make fake facebook and myspace pages and just showed us chat like it was a chatroom. it could have been something like AIM or just plain email.

Just think about Facebook and Instagram. A show like this now would have to have Facebook agree to let them back build authentic looking pages on Facebook and Instagram. Not only that, they would have to back build fake pages for any friends tagged in pictures and so on and so on. Every 15 year old girl is going to have both and they are never gonna bait a guy that doesn't see a page that looks real and goes back a while and has friends tagged that also have real looking pages.

It's just not gonna work.

What bothers me is when the guy is a teenager himself, thinking he's going to chill with someone two years younger and he's treated the same as a 48 year old.

What would be even more awesome, is if that happened and the teen guy pulled out a 45 and shot Chris in the face and said, "if my life is going to be ruined, it's at least going to be for a legit reason".

how about a show that's actually useful. like... where they follow clearly drunk people away from bars and get them pulled over? have people in the bar watching for drunk groups that leave. they could even dramatize it and play sympathy for the guy that gets forced out by bullies and play sad violin music when he gets pulled over anyway.

I had to spend the night in jail one night in 2013. I'm sitting in there and realize I'm surrounded by 10-15 well dressed, 40 year old businessmen types. Thought it was a bit weird. Some of them were flipping the frick out about their lives being over. Some of them wouldn't stop declaring how they honest to God didn't do anything and were tricked.

After I was good to go the next morning, I went to my favorite taco joint and happened to look up at a TV they had in the kitchen. All of these guys' mugshots were scrolling across the screen Grady Judd(Polk County, FL) had me livin' it up with a buncha freaks.

Most of the guys got off though. Came out that they didn't have much to do with any underage sex adventures and were sorta tricked by police into saying incriminating stuff about sex while they were just out and about doing whatever they were doing that night.

That's grounds to initiate "Project Mayhem".
