You have wack insurance then. All I pay is a $5 co-pay and I get 10 visits a year. Seems to help me a good bit but not everyone is going to react the same.

I was going to the chiropractor for back pains but it wasn't helping. I stopped going and started hitting the weights, concentrating on exercises that strengthened my back. No more back pain.

I see my chiropractor as needed and he is great. Get some good recs.

I've been to three different ones over the years and recommend giving one a try before doing anything invasive.

When you have an issue, repeated visits for a short time are necessary, then the frequency goes down.

Think I'll go next week and get all the kinks out before I start back working out hard.

I've found Yoga is fantastic to strengthen and maintain good core strength and alignment which helps prevents future injury & pain.

Quacks who practice junk "medicine". I always get a good laugh when they put "Dr." in front of their name, especially in social settings.

I was a skeptic of chiropractors. I thought they were all quacks. That was 30 years ago. Today, I am a believer and living proof that chiropractic care works...provided you align (no pun intended) yourself with a quality, caring doctor that has the patient's best interests at heart...and I did. He diagnosed and explained my condition...and told me that he can help by treating the root cause and not the symptom. He also promised me that a time will come when he won't be able to help me any more and at that time he will recommend that I see a neurologist. I have personally overhead him telling potential clients that he can't treat them (when they were literally crying from the pain and begging him to help) because their problem was much too serious for him to attempt to treat.

Certainly quacks are out there...but good ones are too. The challenge is to find them. But, to answer your question...YES, chiropractic treatment works.

Yes they do work. Every NFL team have them on their medical staff. I have seen adjustments done on the sidelines.

Had numbness and tingling in my fingers and arm. Went to the chiropractor twice a week for a month. No more numbness or tingling. Coincidence...idk.

How many people have you heard say they saw one for a short amount of time and it worked? Now how many have you heard say "I've been going to mine for (insert years) and they are great!"

This.

Quite literally everyone I know who's gone to one says this exact same thing. A friend of mine just the other day was telling me about how he just started going to one and that it was great but expensive because he "has" to go back three times a week.

Chiros aren't real doctors. Just glorified masseurs

yes it can.

but you have to go to a real chiropractor who works on a wide variety of clients from geriatrics to athletes.

not all of them are quacks but many will only want to cater to the elderly bc its quick and their insurance covers it all generally.

many chiropractors will convince a lot of the elderly that they have to go very week which isnt the case for the most part.

so do your homework. ask around, investigate their methods. do this with massage therapists as well. why go to a massage therapist that only specializes in sweedish or relaxation when you need to use a sports or deep tissue massage.

and yes I have been to one.

if you need a chiropractor in baton rouge I would recommend dr. david or shay corbin.

now for a massage therapist Jay Manda is pretty good.

I'm a little biased as I'm currently in physical therapy school but I tend to see chiropractic practices as a business model set on making adjustments that tend to be recurring whereas physical therapists try to find and fix the underlying cause.

Sometimes this means a simple fix but usually it means changing a habit/movement or strengthening/stretching.

Chiropractors have the appeal of a quick fix but very rarely (not saying always) does it end up being the case. Most of their patients claim that it works wonders but still see their chiro on a regular basis. This is not a functional long term goal obviously.

Consider the underlying problem and put in the work to fix it altogether. Again, that's my biased two cents.

Once again coming from the horse side of things, but what you are saying is true. I had been getting the horse adjusted fairly frequently dueto some si joint and pelvic issues that he came to me with off the track. Lots of strengthening work on both sides (but harder on the weak side) means adjustments last muuuch longer. Been over a year since I've had him adjusted and I'm hoping to keep it that way.

I don't doubt that chiro has worked for some people but philosophically I tend to see the PT side of it per my explanation.
