The US beat Mexico 2-0 in the semifinals of the inaugural Gold Cup. The game was played on July 5, 1991 in Los Angeles Coliseum. It marked a turning point in the series because Mexico had the edge 23-2-4 going in and we've had the edge 17-10-9 since that day.

Back in those days, if a game was played in the LA Coliseum or the Rose Bowl, the crowd would be AT LEAST 80% Mexican supporters. How times have changed.
