This seems like a new trashy trend I'm hearing about more and more of 3 or 4 or even 5 families all with their kids loading up and cheapassing a vacation by squeezing into a cabin or beach house....sleeping 10 or 12 kids on the floor..this is as bad as it gets.

When you say, "new trend" , do you mean only for the last 40 years or so?

Who the hell cares? I'll go on a multi-family vacation and we'll all wear cargo shorts. Bunch of judgmental women.

we used to do this back in the day. We went on vacations to NYC, LAX, Pigeon Forge, TX, SLC for skiing all with 3-4 families. Never crammed into 1 house though, each family did their own hotel room or condo and we had a blast everywhere.

It's a real problem, like long distance runners.

You took a vacation to an airport? Maybe Ryno is onto something here

Having to specify that "other family = not kin" could be correlated with "trashiness."

I've probably done it a half dozen times in the past six years or so.

Last year we stayed a whole week in a 3BR condo. My MIL came and my BIL brought his three kids. MIL watched the kids while myself, my wife and my BIL had a great time in Ernge Beach. MIL and BIL+kids left and then my wife and I had several days to ourselves, and then my best friend, his wife and kids came out for the tail end.

We always get multi-room condos and cut costs that way. With no kids on my end, it's easier for my wife and I to get away for several nights and we don't have to go do the amusement park ride BS with the others so we have our own freedom to come and go. Usually works out really well.
