Saints head coach Sean Payton knocked down rumors that the Saints were considering trading up for Marcus Mariota, but he hasn't said they won't draft a quarterback. Mariota and Jameis Winston are considered the only two quarterbacks worthy of a first-round selection this year. However, what if there's a QB who has Payton's eye this year that he believes he can groom to one day succeed Drew Brees? The Saints have the 31st overall pick (acquired from Seattle in the Jimmy Graham trade). Perhaps that's the spot where the third quarterback is picked. We've seen quarterbacks go higher than expected before. Could the Saints make it happen this year for someone like UCLA's Brett Hundley?

So he thinks we will take a qb we can get later, early, to sit the bench?

I'm all for it as long as he can rush the passer.

I don't like Hundley at 31, but 44 he wouldn't be such a bad pick. I'll say this though, there's now way Hundley is ready to play in the NFL. Not this year, not next year either. Maybe by year 3.

With the new rules it's beneficial to draft in the first round. That fifth year option is a huge boon. I have no problem with taking a qb this year as long as he will be the right fit for the system and replacement for Brees. It's simple: if we draft one then paeyton thinks he is; if we don't then he doesn't. But as for the timing, end of first Is a great spot to draft one

Wouldn't be surprised if we traded that pick so someone could draft Hundley but we better not be the one's taking him there.

I really do not like Hundley at all. I would not want to draft a QB in this draft at all. If we did, maybe in rounds 6 or 7.

CSP wants another ring. He's not drafting a QB in the first, cause he doesn't give a shite and will leave when brees leaves.

I would be pissed if we took Hundley in the first, but he would be a good project in the 2nd-3rd round. I think it would take him atleast 3 years to be ready and that would just about the time for Brees to consider retirement.

31 seems like a high pick for any of the QBs in this draft. Pretty sure we are taking one of the LBers at 31.

Hundley is a 4th round talent at best

Soooo because they haven't explicitly said they aren't taking a QB, by reasonable deduction he believes that means we reach for one at 31. What kind of backward-arse logic is that?

Who is right?
QB at 13 or QB at 31?
I can't decide.

I've mentioned Hundley before as a project. Was thinking more #75 or 44 at the most tho. Might even have some gadget play potential while sitting. I'd say 3 years as rough as his play is.

I'm guessing he hasn't said they won't draft a kicker either, so maybe they will draft a kicker at 31
