Who Portland plays is infinitely more important.
I was getting worried that the OKC team that won some games without him earlier in the year would show up tonight.

Saw this coming. Either call the technical or not. Either way, the NBA should stand behind their referees.

at this point Westbrook is in a neck and neck MVP race. They have an interest in him playing, and the race not being decided with him on the bench.

Dumbass. It's within the NBA's power to rescind unwarranted technical fouls, as it should be. The NBA does a good job of improving officiating quality through this, replay, and releasing officiating reports detailing correct/incorrect calls.
That technical foul was absolutely bogus. Good on the NBA for rescinding it.

Based on what? Please share the verbatim dialogue. We would love to hear what was said.

Then every other refs decision should be reviewed with the possibility of compensation if the ruling is reversed . I mean after all who the hell needs rules. Right?

This has everything to do with ratings

This is the exact thing that power house college football teams do when a player violates team rules. They sit that player out for a half against a scrub team and call it a punishment. He had a tech rescinded last week now he gets another one? I GUARANTEE that if you looked at the other 15 techs there are some that shouldn't have been techs, and there are some techs he should've gotten. It just proves that in games that matter (regardless if they were techs or not) rules go out the window. There is no consistency (well except that superstars consistently get special treatment). Just admit to everyone that the rules don't apply to superstars.
Yes the NBA has the right to rescind it and it might have been a ticky-tack technical but they called what they called. When you continue to rescind calls and change your mind you have now effectively become the NFL where you get way too involved and all the rules are on a case by case basis (basically will league office lose money on this) and there is a bias towards the superstars bc money and TV ratings rule. Kiss integrity goodbye.

How many times does a player get T's 1-13 rescinded???
Of all the rescinded T's this year, what percentage of them were one of the last, say 3 techs?
I bet its high, and that would show that this whole thing is a situationally driven dog and pony show.
disclaimer:If someone calculates the above stat and it tells a different story I will champion that position.

quote:It's actually the opposite. Goodell usually sticks behind the refs no matter how bs the call was. I hate the guy but he's usually consistent in that area.

See that's the problem. He got 15 techs without the NBA rescinding one. But as soon as there's an actual punishment, they just throw out 2 in a row. Why even have the 16 tech limit?
Sure it sucks to get suspended. But maybe don't lead the league in techs despite only playing 65 games.
