This morning, our master bathroom lights (all fixtures) flickered several times within 5 minutes. At one point I thought the power must be out for the whole house or something. This has never happened before. The home is 2 years old. It has been raining all night--not sure if that has anything to do with it.

What could cause this? Would it be ridiculous to have an electrician come out to the house to check things out? My husband is good at a lot of things, but electricity isn't one of them.

I worry so much about a house fire, as my home burned when I was in high school and I currentky have 2 small kiddos.

if thunderstorms were in the area it was probably just a power surge, wouldn't worry if that was the case

No thunderstorm. Just light rain all night

We've never noticed a leak. Just wasn't sure if that could have anything to do with it.

was there enough rain to have a flood pump come on? assuming you have those in your area, some power companies power down a lot during the wee hours, that can cause surges when something that has a big draw powers up in the vicinity, I would just keep an eye on it, that's what it sounds like to me

No clue. But no other lights flickered. Just that one room. However, most of the other lights wre off in the house as everyone else was still asleep.

sounds like a power surge to me, I wouldn't worry, just keep an eye on it to see if it starts doing that a lot, then maybe call an electrician, hopefully one you know, there are a lot of scheisters out there

Are you running anything else in the bathroom?

I wasn't this morning. Not at the time the lights kept flickering.

The bathroom in a 2-year-old house is on GFCI. Not sure what Mississippi code is but it will be either GFCI outlets or breakers. If none of the breakers/outlets tripped then I wouldn't worry about it.

I just noticed this morning that the one over my husbands sink is but not the outlet next to my sink. That worried me. I had never noticed it before. However, nothing was plugged in to either outlet.

A lot of times they will go from the GFI outlet to the secondary outlet, it should be covered by the first though. Plug a lamp in the normal one and hit the GFI test button.
