For seven days, Gwyneth Paltrow will live on the $29-per-week budget of families who rely on the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP).

Paltrow has accepted the #FoodBankNYCChallenge from celebrity chef NYC Food Bank board member Mario Batali, who also challenged Sting and Debbie Harry, Us Weekly noted. The challenge limits people to $1.38 per meal for a week.

The 42-year-old actress spread the word on Twitter Thursday, along with a photo from the grocery store of what she purchased with her $29. The haul included limes, cilantro, corn, whole grain brown rice and eggs.

So now people are bitching that they don't get enough of a free handout?

She should just come to Louisiana and eat crawfish everyday

$29 could buy about a gallon of peanut butter and 3 loaves of bread.

way more than enough to live on for a week.

Man, why can't poor people and liberals just go away. Minorities can go, too. I want my country back!

Yeah, I'm sure so many poor people got obese because they split that with other people over the course of a week.

If anyone is getting $29 in food stamps per week, it's because they're making over a certain salary threshold. I know that some on food stamps get more money per week/ per person than I spend on food each week.

Plus, I doubt that Gwyneth Paltrow even understands the concept of money anymore.

I can tell by what you bought you would never survive the real world :)

I guess I missed where the S in SNAP no longer means "supplemental" as in it is supposed to supplement a person's food budget not be the entirety.
