No. The correct answer is Blackfoot.

Dear Baloo:

Please ban the words "underrated" and "overrated" from thread titles.

TIA.

Hugs,

I remember going to see Jefferson Starship in Baton Rouge about 1980.

I asked the guy in front of me the name of the backup band playing.

He turned around looking indignant and said "38 Special."

They had quite a bit of commercial success in the early/mid-80s.

I like them - they don't have the influence of their big brothers (ABB and Skynyrd), but were right there in the next tier with Molly Hatchet, The Outlaws, maybe Edgar Winter and Blackfoot.

(Interesting that the leaders of the Outlaws and Blackfoot, as well as .38 Special, all had strong connections to Skynyrd)

I absolutely love their song "Second Chance" but really not a big enough catalogue of great songs to be considered underrated.

Marshall Tucker Band, now they're underrated. One of the best bands of the 70s, but most people don't know who they are.

The Outlaws were pretty good too

They might've been more successful had they upped the caliber of their band name to .45 ACP.

40 years is quite the ballpark. If they aren't appreciated in 40 years, they're doing it wrong.

Hell no, soft as an old mans dick. They went the radio route but they had the personnel to go hard, if you ever saw them live they would come out of character at the end of a show and it was a totally different band.
