Sharper will be subject to lie detector tests and, while on lifetime probation in Arizona, to the “penile plethysmograph,” in which a sensor is attached to the penis while an array of sexual images flashes before his eyes, to gauge arousal.

You are right about the lie detector. It is absolutely junk science that has no reasonable basis in fact. It only measures how much you "care" about your answer. The irony being that a truly crazy frick that DGAF can pass with flying colors while.a completely honest person who knows the machine is shite can answer honestly but show as deceptive because he worries about the outcome. Polygraphers are trained to literally swear under oath that they can tell the difference and the machines work blah, blah, blah. But get an honest one in a bar, as I have done, and they will tell you the truth.
And before someone comes up with some obscure internet link disputing this, I have taken dozens of polys for security clearances over my career and know of what I speak. I dreaded every one and won't ever get hooked to a box again.

It's a common therapeutic tool for sex offenders. It's used in treatment to confront pervs when they are in denial, but will rarely be used in court for criminal charges.
