And the rich will get richer when he transfers to Gonzaga as alluded to in this article. This is a huge loss of Washington's basketball program. Can't see their coach surviving this move.

Yeah Romar appears to be in the midst of a situation remarkably similar to the Craig Robinson implosion last year, however I think he'll stick around next year with the opportunity to save his job while the Washington AD looks for potential replacements.

Hasn't their HC been their forever(atleast a decade)?
I did notice a few weeks back that they have a recruiting class that was just outside the top 10.

The head coach is under contract until 2020 I just read and if they fired him it would cost UW $20 million to buy him out. Jerry Meyers said the recruiting class for 2015 for UW should be ranked around 15.

Romar is an outstanding recruiter and when the players mesh well, he puts together very good teams. But he's not an X's and O's guy, resulting in teams that are outright awful just as often as he has good teams.
I think barring a mass exodus of players, he has a season to reach the NCAA tournament or be fired.
