LOL at Blakeney's response when he heard than Mickey was leaving. Pretty cool to see that he was hoping Mickey would stay. Level-headed young man will do well for the Tigers.

That was really really cool. Definitely worth the watch. I love that Simmons and Blakeney seem to be two of the most well liked players

Really exciting times for LSU basketball. Very cool they are so close already which bodes really well for our success next year. If we get Newman, Top-10 no doubt, without probably Top-20 to start.

I hope Newman comes here because I seriously think Simmons could average double-digit assists with guys like Blakeney, Newman, Hornsby, Patterson and Gray as recipients of his passes

Anybody else get the Russell Shepard-Andre Dubose vibe between Blakeney & Newman?
Russell was always jumping into Dubose's interviews and telling the camera's Andre was going to LSU when Dubose wasn't hinting at any destination.
Blakeney seems to be forcing the issue as well with the hard sell when Malik clearly doesn't want words put in his mouth.
Still, I love the relentless effort. And it may very well work out for us this time. They do appear to have a genuine friendship. And it's not just one LSU recruit making the pitch, Ben is on the case, too.

I think Newman is a lot more receptive than Dubose was though. I always thought it was just Shepard being himself but I still didn't expect Dubose to come here.
With Newman, I think he sees how much Blakeney and Simmons (not as hard of a sell though) want him and realize what his addition would do to that team.
Again though, it's two different sports where one player has much more of an effect in one sport than the other
