And be fine for tomorrow?

Let's say 15 pitches.

Worst case would be Godfrey. It wasn't uncommon for Jared Bradford and Louis Coleman, when they were here, to throw an inning Friday and then start Sunday.

If you want his arm to fall off, then ok

I guess you're getting railed for this, but I have the same question.
Does it hurt a shoulder so much?
I mean basketball players (on most teams) would shoot 50-100 foul shots in practice.. so why couldn't a pitcher pitch 10 pitches one day and 100 the next?

He's not throwing only 10 pitches. He's throws much more just warming up

a pitcher throwing in a game setting is kinda like an olympic lifter. They're throwing to near max exertion every time they go on the mound.

an olympic lifter doesnt go out and lift 95% of his max 10+ times then try to go out and do it again the next day. not quite apples to apples, but you get the idea

the strain on the muscles an ligaments for a free throw is nowhere near what it is for a 90mph fastball

You just don't do that to your ace, who is also only a few months out of highschool, in a relatively meaningless mid season Friday game.

If you're in the CWS sure you do what you have to but that's just unnecessary strain on a young arm at this point.

And throwing a baseball is the most unnatural motion in sports. I don't think you understand how much strain just getting warm puts on an arm
