This has been the name of the game this gen for consoles...announce everything at E3, set a date or at least give the idea of when it is going to come out....then delay.
Pretty frustrating. The whole "well at least they are taking their time and doing it right" sentiment was cool the first 2-3 times. No mas.

I wonder if they felt like they had to do that because of new consoles. I feel like some developers are reeling in their announcements and hopefully that continues.

You know MS and Sony were forcing it. You can't have a good console unveiling without games and console features to show promise.
Pause/Resume feature for PS4 is another one. Got promised at unveil but wasn't released until a year and a half after release.

Among many features they discuss and slowly roll out. I understand they can't have it ready at launch. It just sucks how long it takes to get everything.

Yeah I understand that they may not have everything at launch, but they go about it in a very misleading way.
And then you have the apologists on reddit/N4G (or any other fanboy filled website) telling everyone how Sony really cares about their customers compared to MS.

I think they both care about their customers equally, as in they want to please them but really they have to make money
