last time i did an STD test was through a private lab and it was like $300. i'd rather just go to a docotr to do it

and i'm just curious what my levels are. i haven't been to a proper doctor in 15+ years, possibly going on 20 years

i did a light physical (with some bloodwork) for my life insurance about 3 years ago and it came back fine with slightly elevated BP

Find yourself a primary care doctor that is taking new patients and make appt for a physical. Then you can discuss with him/her what tests you really need....and they can let you know the costs.

i don't ever get super sick and i have been blessed to avoid major issues (other than injuries from a car wreck)

you know that annual physicals are often bad for you long-term right? they give people a false sense of confidence

I'm with you. Never really had a checkup.

I also don't care as much about life expectancy though.

well i figure i'm almost 32. if there is some major defect, i still have time to life my life around it.

nothing has popped up so far, though

i eat a metric frick ton better than the last time i had a physical and i don't really smoke anymore (and i was a heavy smoker then), so my BP is probably a lot better as well

Yeah I see no reason for a doctor at this point. I am never sick.

That's a bunch of crap and you know it

It's good to establish a relationship with a doctor that is familiar with all your health issues. I need a new Primary care doc. My insurance changed and she isn't in network anymore. But she was awesome. And I had been seeing her for several years so she was familiar with my health issues and always willing to refer me to any other docs I wanted to see.

Typical male mentality

I think women are better at seeing doctors because most of us are already used to having to see our gynos every year so we could get our birth control renewed(or more frequently when they are pregnant).

Yall see your dentist on a regular basis? Lemme guess...no

I find it hard to believe that annual physicals are objectively bad for you.

I do now. I will admit I waited too long in life for that.

My husband never goes either(doctor or dentist). Don't understand why he doesn't go for the cleanings, etc....he has good dental insurance. He flosses like crazy though and is one of those people you hate that has never had a cavity.

Be careful Nurse. Don't let the results of your genetic testing give you false confidence. Not healthy for you...in the long run.
