That way, in case of injury, they would get paid? Would that type of action by LSU entice elite basketball players to stay and finish their careers?

It's available if they want it. NCAA rules allow them to buy insurance with a loan against future earnings.

I don't understand why everyone is so upset these guys are leaving. A lot bigger issue is brewing. With Barnes at UT, Howland at Moo st and possibility of Marshall at Bama. LSU will have a bottom feeder of a coach with no accomplishments. Easily placing him in bottom 3 of the SEC..but, let's be concerned with mediocre players leaving early.

That's why it's concerning. We have a bottom tier coach and our 2 best players left.

If they stayed, we might have been able to do something special next year in spite of coaching deficiencies.

Jeez man, we're fortunate they stayed this long. The player with any pro potential who stays more than a couple of years is an exception nowadays. We can think it's a mistake, and it probably is, but they all think they're going to be one of the ones who make it.

No, LSU cannot buy them insurance. That would be an illegal benefit and sink the ship.
