Jealousy and insecurity. Some people can't comprehend how people without degrees can make so much money. I have a good friend that's been like this his whole life. He gets angry because we have degreeless friends that make 3 times what he makes and they work in O&G. He works in journalism. My field pays well, but not nearly what some of my O&G friends make, and I hold multiple degrees. I understand the nature of their work though, and some career paths just don't pay as much.

Yeah, and the reason they're paid so much? It's dangerous as frick.

I fully expect this to get worse before it gets better. The blood letting hasn't even begone yet IMO. There are tons of shale plays boys who are very over leveraged surviving on their hedges, most of those contracts will be expiring in 2Q. Barring a middle East war or Russia doing something crazy I see M&As have a big 4thQ.

If any of you OT ballers want to invest a couple hundred mil I can find us some cheap shale acreage that we can flip on the rebound or even produce.

I have some family that has some working interest on some larger plays that they are selling right now for about .50 on the dollar. There is huge opportunity for big $$$ investors looking to get into the industry.

I have a friend that's in drilling. They are only getting 13k a day for the rig. I don't see how they can operate a deepwater rig on that budget safely.

Even after renegotiations have taken place I think most of the big boys day rates are between 250-700k for ultra deepwater.

I keep crossing my fingers every time one of these 2-4 hundred $ powerballs come up. Turn myself into a oil barren.

I don't even know if barge and land rigs are going for that cheap. But if its anything your prob right that its a barge.

You could come in this market right now with $50-100M to invest and get yourself pretty close to "barren" status within 5-10 years as long as oil gets back up to the $80 range.

Did you mean to reply to me? Because, if so... huh? I have nothing but respect for those guys. It's not easy work.

I think you and Greenhead have that the opposite. He'd be barren if oil falls more. He'd be a baron if it goes back up to $80 per barrel.

I would have to go through a couple guys I know, maybe have to partner with them but could get it done. I have some lawyer and Geo friends that have broken off and done there own thing. There's a couple different ways you can go about it. Too much to type on my phone.

It still isn't too late..

Take some CAD classes and get hired immediately as a Piping Designer at $30/hr.
