Took a pretty big rock to my windshield, The damage is too much to fix, gotta replace it. Can anyone recommend a shop here in BR. It's a 2014 Wrangler Unlimited.

Jab hooked me up with his friend, Absolute Auto Glass. 225-413+6842. Did a very good job with factory glass. Drove to my wife's work, might have been same day...

Just had mine done by safelite. Came to my house the day after I filed a claim. Took less than an hour.

Anchor auto glass will do long cracks. How big is the crack? I think they will do up to 18" maybe 24 inches. I have no clue how good they are but they use same windshield repair kit I use and you may not need replacement if it's just a simple long crack.

Wrangler is a pretty simple replacement, shouldn't be a bad price

DO NOT go to safelite. There's a ton of reasons but mostly because they use cheap Chinese glass.

I've used Safelite more than once and never had a single issue with their products. In fact, I used a local guy once and my windshield leaked bad. He came highly recommended. Took him forever to call me back and then did shitty work.

Doesn't mean they aren't the devil It all depends on the tech. Issues with Safelite is them being known not to pull cowl panels to save time which affects correct placement and morale there from what many of their techs have told me is horrible. 10-15 replacements a day for 1 guy is brutal. I never allow myself to do more than 4 replacements and of course I do several repairs amongst all that. As far as their techs, they are probably like any other company.

Eta: One of reason they aren't liked among glass shops is their affiliation with third party administrators and insurance jobs. They actually are a TPA and when you call insurance company many times you are calling Safelite or SGC (same company) directly. You tell them you want Johns auto glass to maybe do a repair but they send out a safelite tech to "check on it" to see if can be repaired or needs replacement. Hell while they are there they can go ahead and do the job themselves, all that depends on the state. Basically, you call your insurance company, depending on who your insurance is, you are getting a safelite rep on the phone.

Oh I have no doubts people have had issues with them. I didn't want to use them at first because of what I heard. It was mainly for convenience that I ended up using them. I rolled the dice. I just haven't had any issues with them. That's all.

With auto glass, it's nothing but a roll of the dice. There are many good safelite techs, just a tough place to work for such little pay.

I don't know about what glass they use. Geico rep said they won't replace with OEM glass... But I did take a large rock directly to the middle of the windshield like 3 days after it was replaced and it didn't crack.

Fella who did it seemed nice enough, and I haven't noticed any leaks. Maybe I just lucked up.

So, you dislike them because their business model out-competes yours...

Good to hear. Jeff is a close friend of mine, he works his arse off to take care of his customers.

I dislike them b/c they treat their employees like crap and in the past allowed their techs to take shortcuts. As far as business model, of course they have a better business model than me. I'm a one man show. I get all the work I want. I have kids and my main job is working at fire dept. I don't care to be busy, just love auto glass. My step dad has a glass shop, I've always enjoyed it, probably more than being a fireman.
