A friend saw Holiday a few days ago around the neighborhood and asked when he was coming back. He said that he was targeting a Wednesday return against LAL. No guarantees but I hope he's a go

What we do know is the team will be in LA on Wednesday and the doctor that can clear him is in LA. But I seriously doubt he goes from not even being able to practice to playing in a game the same day he sees the doctor. Most injuries they make guys have at least one full contact practice and see how their body responds the next day before returning.

if you heard Joel Meyers during today's Pels/TWolves game... Joel seemed to believe both Jrue & Ryno may return during the upcoming road swing

The thing is, especially in Jrue's case, what kind of shape are they in? No matter what kind of conditioning work you do, it can't match full practice or playing. So, even if ready, minutes have to be limited. Yeah, I know, that's probably better for Ryno.

And hopefully they will. I'm not saying I'd be surprised if Holiday gets cleared to return to basketball activities on April 1st, I'd just be surprised if that return to basketball activities involved being thrown into a game before he's even had a full contact workout with the team. We've seen this time and again with serious injuries this season, players test it out in practice and if there are no negative issues the next day then they can play in the game.

#Pelicans' Jrue Holiday did not participate in full practice. Williams says Holiday close to returning from rt lower-leg stress reaction.

Holiday had said he last saw doctor on team's 3/22 trip at Clippers. Pelicans play at Lakers on Wed. He's to see doctor before playing.

We literally dont have a doctor in New Orleans.

I can see it now..

"Both Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon will miss the remaining 56 games of the 2015 season with mild ankle sprains, as the team has no remaining games on the west coast"

#Pelicans PG Jrue Holiday said he practiced Monday but will not play Tuesday vs. the Warriors. 'I still feel something there.'

Can we pull the pin and give him a bone graft already? I'm not sure how applicable KD's situation is to Jrue's but supposedly bone grafting is a better fix, it just is a longer recovery so they usually don't go to it as the first option.

Just watched the media interview Jrue did today.

Said he just wants to play.

Said ultimately the decision will be between him and medical staff on his leg. Practiced yesterday and did walk through today.

Doesn't want to mess up the groove the team currently has

Said if he does come back, which he wants to, he just wants to fit into the system and not hurt the flow of the team

Not really anything new, but first time I've seen Jrue even interviewed in a long while

What does this mean? When asked what the worst case scenario was with his leg he said

quote:

obviously my leg can't break because I have a rod in there, but something else can.

I thought the stress reaction meant the part of his leg bone without the rod in it was at pre-fracture stage.

Another article talking about his return for this season is doubtful

Million dollar question is when did they realize he wasn't going to play again this year. The Training staff either teased us all year or they are actually that bad

If you watch the interview the article you linked to is based on, Monty seemed to genuinely expect Holiday back this week. Somebody with alleged inside info said last month that Holiday was getting to the point where he was either going to be better and play, or they'd be back to square one. Listening to Jrue's answer that sounds true, because he's not ready to play yet, but it doesn't sound like they have a next step other than keep working.

And although coach Monty Williams hasn't ruled out hope for Holiday's possible return, it is starting to appear doubtful.

If the Pelicans do decide to pull the plug on Holiday's return, it will be made in collaboration from Mickey Loomis, the Pelicans executive vice president, General Manager Dell Demps and Williams.

''Mickey obviously will make the last call on that, but I am sure that's on the table,'' Williams said.

Only thing I could logically come to was maybe something could affect the muscles around the bone? Like he had muscle decay or something

Cause if he's not worried about the bone getting re fractured then it has to just be a pain thing huh? I don't know anything about stress fractures so I'm just purely speculating
